Choosing a home remodeling
contractor is not simple. An “apples to apples” comparison
of contractors is practically impossible to make. Quality of work, as
well as what’s included in the contract and what’s not, can
vary substantially from contractor to contractor. These differences are
not always readily apparent.
- Are comfortable with the contractor?
- Do you think you trust this person?
- Does the contractor communicate with you in a way that you can understand?
- Does the contractor listen to your concerns as they relate to the
project?
- Does the contractor have the design skills and experience to offer
solutions for your unique concerns?
- What special qualities does the contractor have?
- Does the contractor show the attention to detail that you think he
should?
- Will the contractor cut corners or use substandard or lower-quality
materials and products?
- How does the contractor deal with changes that may occur as the job
progresses?
- Will the contractor give you an estimate in writing for the contract
and for changes that may occur as the job progresses?
- How will the contractor accommodate your household needs during the
construction process?
- How will the contractor follow up on your needs and concerns after
the job is completed?
- What is the quality of the subcontractors and their track record that
the contractor uses?
- It is in your best interest as a homeowner to be looking for the most
value for your dollar, not necessarily the lowest price for the job.
First: Choose a contractor who makes you
feel comfortable. Remodeling will require a long term commitment.
Second: Select a contractor you are confident
can satisfy your concerns.
Third: Spend some time talking to his
references.
Finally: Collaborate with that contractor
to design a remodeling project that fulfills your goals and is within
your budget.

value for your dollar. We are committed to our clients' needs throughout
